,Ever wondered what my background is or why I do what I do then please read on.
A little about me...
I grew up in South-West Sydney, and relocated to the Illawarra in 2015.
I started dancing at the age of 5 and completed year 11 & 12 at Brent St Studios full-time performing arts school in Sydney. Thankfully, I still have the opportunity to perform with Wollongong based company ‘Dancers 4 Events’. When I dance, I am completely in that moment, and my heart beams with joy. Following my love for the stage, I found an interest in competitive sport aerobics, and went on to compete at national level throughout high school.
First year out of school, in 2008, I completed my Certificate III in Fitness and began working in the fitness industry. Having taught group dance classes I took a liking to group exercise instruction, which lead to obtaining Les Mills certificates, Zumba & Punchfit certificates.
I’ve always had a desire to learn about the human body. Possessing the mentality, ‘but I want to know more'. When I returned home from living abroad for a couple of years, I enrolled in the Diploma of Remedial Massage. This course included swedish, remedial, sports & pregnancy massage. From there, I have completed further studies in myofascial release & craniosacral therapy level 1, Chinese cupping therapy and Onsen muscle energy technique.
Yes, I felt like this was my calling. I love the way massage can temporarily move people away from the fast pace of society and stresses of life, allowing them to enter a moment of bliss. I love that massage can help eliminate pain, built up tension in the body and give people the opportunity to move more freely.
Being a dancer I am fanatical about posture and movement technique (poor Tom has to put up with it hehe). I completed my matwork pilates course in 2015, which focused on the quality of the movement, through correct body alignment, precision, focus on breath and control. A big tick from me! But I was still limited as to who and what I could treat. What was holding me back was my lack of knowledge of complex conditions and in-depth study of the anatomy & physiology of the human body.
A year on, I decided to enrol into a Bachelor of Health Science with the hope to be accepted into a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Western Sydney University the following year. Eighteen months down the track, I have just completed my first year in Physiotherapy. Where I am right now, and where I am heading, has never felt so right. I can’t wait to be able to help more patients move again or go about their day with a little more ease, through the use of physical therapy.
What is Simone Quinn Massage Therapy?…
It is a home-based business in Albion Park, where there is no judgement and no one-size fits all with treatments. Roaming chickens out the window and 2 doggies, but don’t worry they can only peep through the fence.
My swirly logo design was inspired by my myofascial release & craniosacral therapy course. Throughout that week we performed a lot of gentle movements and sometimes no movement at all, while holding the head of the person on the table. I was amazed at the power of this technique, bringing the body to complete relaxation, provoking fascial unwinding and giving the body permission to let go of whatever it may be holding onto. Soon after, my logo of a therapist holding the clients head was born. Thank you Erin.
Next year I will be completing the Liddle Kidz Pediatric Massage course which focuses on the use of massage therapy for children with special health care needs, who are hospitalised or diagnosed with terminal illness. I will also be kicking off the year with a women’s wellness week. Stay tuned for more info!
So, if you are going about your day with aches & pains, or need a way to cope with stress I would love to help with a massage treatment tailored to your needs. Contact me today to find out how you can be on your way to feeling better or book online through ‘Book now’. (female only except for children and people with disabilities)
Thanks for reading :)
